A Message from the President
Months of Growth and Collaboration
In the past few months, we have seen significant progress and remarkable teamwork.
The first piece of excellent news is that we have strengthened our position as the national reference in water damage prevention. Our membership has grown by an impressive 25%—a figure that demonstrates a growing interest in our mission and proves that we are addressing a significant need in the industry.
Another cause for celebration is the recent addition of a major insurance provider, the Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company. Wawanesa joins Aviva, Desjardins, Intact, Northbridge, and Promutuel already insurer members of PREVCAN. The participation of these insurers represents one of the most important benefits for PREVCAN installer members and manufacturer members as these insurers promote our services to their clients and favour those that are PREVCAN accredited. By joining our association, they recognize our expertise and our key role in the sector.
Three-hour training course
As you may already know, we have developed a three-hour online training course covering the fundamentals of water damage prevention. This flexible and accessible training program is available in both languages and is aimed primarily at property and casualty insurance brokers. It has attracted a great deal of interest. In fact, nearly 300 people have already registered. By following the course, brokers can earn three continuing education units (CEUs). This initiative also helps us generate revenue to support our operations.
You can play a key role
We are determined to pursue our mission to bring together different stakeholders in the field of water damage prevention, to inform the public of the solutions that exist, to intervene with damage insurers and government authorities, and to provide our members with tools to improve the quality of services offered to the public.
But we can’t do it without you. PREVCAN is here for you, and it needs you. We need your active participation to strengthen the association. Whether you join one of our committees or lend a hand from time to time—in communications, recruitment or other areas—every action counts.
I invite you to attend our next Annual General Meeting (AGM) in February. This will be an opportunity for you to share your ideas and concerns, interact with other members and actively contribute to the vitality of the Association. Details will be announced shortly.
We look forward to interacting with you during our AGM, and to working with you to build a future where water damage prevention is among everyone’s priorities.
You can reach us by email at info@prevcan.org or by phone at 514 375-4004.
