PREVCAN

Water Damage Prevention Association of Canada

We have created the Water Damage Prevention Association of Canada (PREVCAN) to assist interested stakeholders in other provinces in creating their own provincial associations and replicate PREVDEQ’s achievements in their respective regions. These new provincial associations will become chapters of PREVCAN. PREVCAN’s mission and objectives are

Represent and support its members as well as to promote the profession with respect to the protection, promotion, management and development of efficient solutions to prevent water damage.
Promote the profession. To achieve that, it encourages its members to strive for excellence, fosters competence, promotes research and process improvements, and contributes to the implementation of training programs.
One of PREVCAN’s main roles is to accompany stakeholders in creating provincial chapters that share its mission and objectives.
PREVCAN main desire are to improve quality of water leak prevention systems, its installations and its installers. This will benefit customers, insurers and company in a emerging market.

OUR MISSION

Become an essential support tool for water damage prevention specialists and their customers. It was created with the aim of bringing together the different stakeholders in the field and be its spokesperson, to inform the public of the solutions that exist, to intervene with damage insurers and relevant government authorities and to provide its members with tools to improve quality services offered to the public

A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT

This past year has been a busy one in terms of accomplishments and recruitment. We have also strengthened our position as the top-of-mind reference for water damage prevention with some of Canada’s major property and casualty insurers.

One of the projects we completed was the development of a three-hour training class with the Association des professionnels en construction et habitation du Québec (APCHQ). The training will be a chance for damage insurance brokers to obtain three continuing education units (CEUs). Brokers will be allowed to take this online course at their own pace.

The Quebec government has provided funding to help develop this training, which will be offered in French and English. It will certainly be an excellent tool for anyone with an interest in water damage prevention.

On the Quebec side, the Quebec Water Damage Prevention Association (PREVDEQ) has been dissolved to become PREVCAN Quebec. This merger was prompted by the need to reduce the administrative burden and costs associated with having a separate organization in Quebec rather than a provincial chapter of PREVCAN.

We are currently working on launching PREVCAN Ontario and PREVCAN British Columbia, both of which will be chapters of PREVCAN.

In the medium to long term, we hope to establish PREVCAN chapters in each of the Canadian provinces. This would help us consolidate our presence from coast to coast.

With the help of all our members, we will pursue our mission, which is to bring together the different stakeholders in the field of water damage and be its spokesperson, to inform the public of the solutions that exist, to intervene with damage insurers and relevant government authorities, and to provide its members with tools to improve quality services offered to the public.
